The previous land owner had excessively cleared a 15-20 foot high slope. Erosion was already apparent and the blackjack oaks (unusual) and red oaks were at risk of drying out. Grass and wildflower seeds from Native American Seed were spread and covered with 2" of on-site, shredded cedar. Finally, straight branches of cut cedars were laid to form approximately 24" high windrows to further slow overland slows at top of steeper parts of slope. The reason for the lower windrows was to avoid hampering beautiful views of Hill Country.
