HORSESHOE BAY NATURE PARK
The goal of the park's board was to preserve and enhance this beautiful piece of Texas Hill Country to inspire citizens to appreciate and value native plants, wildlife, and land conservation.
Although small in size (11 acres), we quickly determined the new park possessed six different ecological zones that would be managed to enhance the visitor enjoyment and learning. We also gathered data from bird census data (provided by Travis Audubon Society members), native plants, soil health and variations, and geological interests. During the site assessment, a preliminary easy-access and half-mile loop were mapped out as requested. We identified degraded areas that would need special attention to regenerate using contour bioswales, liquid compost sprays, and seeding. The final vision plan and fundraising brochure developed by Land Steward was widely accepted by the Horseshoe Bay community. The board hired Twistleaf to provide design development and installation services.
